Registered charity The Launch Foundation has one purpose to set up young people for a better future. Created by some of the leadership team from Freedom Built, a Christchurch based home build company, they saw a need to help and support underprivileged youths across Christchurch and wider Canterbury, who were living with less opportunities and support in their lives.
The idea was: build a house as cost effectively as possible, sell it, and have the charity distribute the proceeds. With a proper structure and all legalities covered, The Launch Foundation was born. And every business that has been involved can be thanked for helping at risk children and youth who are suffering from the effects of poverty, abandonment, crime, addiction and mental illness.
The house, in Goulds Estate, Rolleston, is now finished and has just been sold for a tidy $255,000 profit. The Launch Foundation can now put those funds to good use via their partnering charities: Aviva helping communities to live free from violence, Graeme Dingle Foundation helping children build self-esteem and promote good values.
