Jeremy's Story

In 2024, Jeremy, a dedicated Kiwi Can leader from the Far North, was recognised with the Kiwi Can Outstanding Leader Award at the Graeme Dingle Foundation National Excellence Awards. Known for his commitment to young people across some of Aotearoa’s most remote communities, Jeremy is a role model not only for tamariki but also for his peers.

Karla Guerin reckons she has got the best job in the world. “Everything about it is positive,” says the Canterbury Kiwi Can co-ordinator of the programme she believes is life-changing for many children. “We are teaching kids that what they have inside them is awesome, and greater than any obstacle they might face.”
