The inspiration behind our new event
We have been successfully delivering Project K for over 25 years in Aotearoa. This programme was originally developed in 1995 after consulting with leading educationalists, youth workers, parents and communities.
Project K is a 14 month mentoring programme that is designed for at risk year 10 students. It involves three parts; a 3 week Wilderness Adventure, a community challenge and a mentor to help them throughout the 14 months.
We know that the outdoors can improve both our mental and physical well being . We are very proud of the research done into the wilderness component of Project K to show the positive effects it has had on our rangatahi.
Our research has shown that:
• The Wilderness Adventure promotes responsibility, interpersonal skills, competence, connection, confidence and caring.
• Participants that took part in the Wilderness Adventure developed a more positive attitude and increased gratitude.
Located on the northern end of Great Barrier Island, in Karaka Bay, is Orama Aotea. This picturesque lodge is where you will be staying for the duration of the Corporate Wilderness event.
Roughly 250 acres of land, excellent facilities and friendly staff, it is the perfect place for you and your group to enjoy three days of friendly competition and team building.
