The inspiration behind our new event

We have been successfully delivering Project K for over 25 years in Aotearoa. This programme was originally developed in 1995 after consulting with leading educationalists, youth workers, parents and communities.

Project K is a 14 month mentoring programme that is designed for at risk year 10 students. It involves three parts; a 3 week Wilderness Adventure, a community challenge and a mentor to help them throughout the 14 months.

We know that the outdoors can improve both our mental and physical well being . We are very proud of the research done into the wilderness component of Project K to show the positive effects it has had on our rangatahi.

Our research has shown that:
•  The Wilderness Adventure promotes responsibility, interpersonal skills, competence, connection, confidence and caring.
•  Participants that took part in the Wilderness Adventure developed a more positive attitude and increased gratitude.
