Career Navigator Visits Adventure Southland

Group of students and mentors outside Adventure Southland

During Term 2 our Southland Boys High School Career Navigator students alongside 2 of their mentors, Andrew Mullins from NZAS and Debbie Tynan from Martin and Lobb Eyecare, went to Adventure Southland for some team building.

The team building event with Adventure Southland provided a fantastic opportunity for mentors and mentees to connect outside of their comfort zones. The activities facilitated by Adventure Southland challenged our group and highlighted skills within both our mentors and mentees. Besides having fun together, these team building events are a tactile way to progress positive relationships within our group, enabling them to communicate and connect for a common purpose.

It was awesome to see our students take charge in some of the activities. The confidence to speak up with their ideas just shows how much they are growing. A highlight for everyone was Debbie taking one for the team and climbing out on a plank to reach ‘the diamond’ while the rest of the team kept the plank steady.
