Future Of Work conference to workshop ‘killer’resumes and million-dollar ideas

A survey after Blenheim’s first Future of Work conference showed nine out of 10 students walked away with a different take on their career prospects.

And having seen how the 2019 event inspired her older sister, Marlborough Girls’ College student Charlotte McLean was quick to sign up. As was everyone she knows, she said.

“I’ve always been a bit confused and scared about having to choose a career so early on in life,” the 16-year-old said.

Charlotte wanted to be a winemaker after graduating, and was even attending a wine operations course at Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology (NMIT), but was anxious to learn what steps other winemakers had taken.

The Future Of Work conference is back in Blenheim next month, after a Covid-enforced hiatus in 2020, with more than 75 Marlborough businesses, across 40 industries, already locked in.

Tickets for the 2019 event sold out in an hour, so organisers – Graeme Dingle Foundation and the Marlborough District Council – decided to double the amount of tickets available this year to 300 to keep up with demand. Tickets for this year’s conference had almost sold out.
