The $124,000 raised in this year’s Central South Island Charity Bike Ride has been divvied up between eight South Canterbury charities.

The annual three-day, 300-kilometre ride was this year trimmed down to two separate rides held on February 17 and 18, and the money raised was handed over to the benefiting charities this week.

Charity Bike Ride committee chairman Max Munro said the funds raised, spread across the eight charities, brought the total amount of money raised since the ride’s inception, 18 years ago, to $2.317 million.

The charities to receive the money include the Life Education Trust, the Graeme Dingle Foundation, South Canterbury Child Restraints, Hospice South Canterbury, the YMCA, Heart Kids South Canterbury and Creative Corner.
