On my last day of meetings, I had a very enjoyable cuppa with Rhys Manukau, CEO Te Uri o Hau, at the unique Eutopia Café in Kaiwaka. We talked about our partnership and our hopes for the young people in our programmes. Rhys admired the big beautiful Maui Mercedes (MM), then I drove south.
Next morning I cleaned out MM and with a touch of sadness drove back to THL in Mangere.
The staff all came running out to greet us, asking questions enthusiastically:
‘How was your trip?’
‘How many schools have signed up?’
‘Was it fun?’
I was overwhelmed by their friendship – thank you THL. I will never forget you and my trip through Northland in the fabulous MM.
